Summer Reading Challenge

Color Our World

June 7 through August 30

Add a splash of imagination to your summer with this year’s Summer Reading Challenge, “Color Our World.” Children of all ages are invited to join the fun and track their reading on Beanstack or a paper game board. Read for 10 hours to earn a colorful completion prize and be entered into exciting prize drawings!

Register and Play  

There are two ways to play. 

Track Online with Beanstack 

Track your reading online by downloading the Beanstack app to your phone. Pre-registration is available now; begin earning points on June 7.

Sign into the summer reading challenge

Track With a Paper Game Board

Summer Reading Challenge game boards will be available at branches and online beginning June 7. 

Kickoff Event

Saturday, June 7 
11 a.m.-2 p.m. 
Perry Hall Branch 

A fun day of entertainment including face painting, balloon animals, live music and giveaways. Pick up a game board so you can have fun all summer long. 

Prizes and Drawings 

Completion Prizes

Complete the challenge by reading for 10 hours and logging your reading on Beanstack or a paper game board. 

  • Paint Set
  • Color-Changing Cup
  • Mystery Color Squish Axolotl
  • Book of your choice

Visit any branch by Saturday, August 30 to pick up your completion prize. Supplies are limited, first-come, first-served. If you played on a paper game board, bring your completed game board with you.  

Prize Drawing 

Complete the Summer Reading Challenge to earn five (5) tickets for the prize drawing. Choose which prizes your tickets will go toward on Beanstack or by filling out the completion form on your paper game board and returning it to any branch.

  • Tie Dye Kit (1 winner per branch)
  • Cozy Coloring Kit (1 winner per branch)
  • Anime Art Kit (1 winner per branch)
  • 1 year family membership to the National Aquarium (1 winner systemwide)

Prize drawings take place on Tuesday, September 2. Winners are contacted by phone or email by Tuesday, September 9 to pick up their prize at their local branch. Please be sure to provide an email address or phone number with registering on Beanstack.

Color Our World T-Shirts  

Summer Reading 2025 t-shirt

Your commemorative Summer Reading Challenge T-shirt is available for purchase in branches beginning Saturday, June 7, while supplies last. Proceeds benefit the Summer Reading Challenge. The cost is $7.50 for kids and $8.75 for adults (tax included).

Provided by Baltimore County Public Schools and USDA Summer Food Service Program, meals are available Monday through Friday and must be eaten in the branch.

Important note: The lunch program is for youth 18 years old and under and available on a first-come, first-served basis. Meals must be eaten at the branch. The lunch program cannot accommodate groups, such as camps, childcare centers, etc.
