STREAM Vehicle and Mobile Services: Youth and Family

Youth and Family Engagement mobile vehicles serve children and families throughout Baltimore County, with a focus on those experiencing barriers to accessing library services.

STREAM Vehicle

After school and during the summer months, the STREAM (Science, Technology, Reading, Arts, Math) vehicle visits neighborhoods to serve youth of all ages and their families who are experiencing barriers to accessing library resources. Staff provide activities using maker technologies, fiber arts, virtual reality, gaming, music creation and traditional arts and crafts, along with reading materials. This vehicle can accept returns from any branch, and materials checked out during a stop may be returned to any branch.

Library at Lunch

The Youth and Family Engagement staff visit select middle and high schools during lunch periods throughout the school year to provide books and activities. During the visits, students and school staff can check out materials using their BCPS student account or with a full-access library card along with participating in library activities. Materials checked out during Library at Lunch can be returned at the student’s school library, local branch or during the next Library at Lunch visit.

Materials Request

The Youth and Family Engagement mobile vehicles are stocked with a variety of materials. Mobile vehicle and branch staff are able to assist with requests for books and other materials by selecting the Mobile-Youth/Family option from the pickup location dropdown. Materials can be picked up at a pre-determined STREAM Vehicle Community Stop or Library at Lunch visit.

Returns

Vehicles can accept returns from any branch, and materials checked out from a mobile vehicle may be returned to any branch.

Schedule

The Youth and Family Engagement mobile vehicle is available at multiple locations. Please call 410-887-0517 for details on the current schedule or with questions.
