Freedom of speech is protected by the U.S. Constitution, but what does it mean when the speech is a lie? In this series of three interactive workshops, learn about disinformation, its impact on your community, our democracy and the upcoming election, and how to disrupt its spread. Discover the science of why falsehoods spread and stick, how to check sources, facts and AI-generated content, and how to better practice civil discourse. In this session, discover tips for checking accuracy of facts and source credibility and hear local reporter Mindy Basara of WBAL-TV discuss their work. Presented by Deanna Troust of Truth in Common. A light meal is provided for participants beginning at 5:15 p.m. Participants are encouraged to register for all three weeks.
