Two Truths and a Lie: Separating Facts From Fiction
Freedom of speech is protected by the U.S. Constitution, but what does it mean when the speech is a lie? In this series of three interactive workshops, learn about disinformation, its impact on your community, our democracy and the upcoming election, and how to disrupt its spread. Discover the science of why falsehoods spread and stick, how to check sources, facts and AI-generated content, and how to better practice civil discourse. In this session, practice your listening and conversation skills during a group discussion to explore perspective and bias. Presented by Deanna Troust of Truth in Common. A light meal is provided for participants beginning at 5:15 p.m. Participants are encouraged to register for all three weeks.
