Virtual Book Display: Autism is intersectional
Autism Acceptance Month reminds us that autism isn’t one story, and neither are autistic people. Inspired by the Autism Society of America’s theme Autism Is, Baltimore County Public Library’s Neurodiversity affinity group has developed this virtual book display in recognition that autism is experienced differently depending on a person’s race, culture, gender, sexuality, language, class, and other parts of who they are. This display invites us to move beyond stereotypes to highlight autistic voices and a wide spectrum of experiences. In here, you’ll find stories of joy, community, self-discovery, justice, and self-advocacy.
