Sunday Service Hours Return to Select Branches
After a short summer break, the library’s Sunday hours are returning Sunday, September 8, at seven of its 19 branches. The library strives to meet the needs of its customers in the communities where they work and live. For so many, this means having access to the library’s vital resources seven days a week. The service will run annually starting the Sunday after Labor Day through the Sunday before Memorial Day weekend. The following branches will be open to the public on Sundays from 1 to 5 p.m.
The seven branches remain the same as the seven selected when the library opened for Sundays during the 2023 to 2024 school year. These locations saw the most use on pre-pandemic Sundays among other factors, such as space, parking and physical resources like computers. Because the library believes in equal access, the seven branches are spread out geographically throughout the County. The library is open on Sundays for core services, such as access to:
- The physical collection
- Computers
- Meeting and study rooms
- Printing, copying and faxing
- Programs
Some services will not be available, including My Librarian, and notary or passports appointments.
Wild About Sundays
To kick off the return of Sunday hours, the library is hosting Wild About Sundays throughout September and October. - September 15, 1 p.m.—Succulent Giveaway, Pikesville Branch

A Wild Giveaway
Anyone who comes into a branch on any Sunday between September 8 and October 27 to borrow a physical item will be entered to win one of three Wild About Sundays prize packs. Prizes are as follows:
- Two lucky winners will receive a certificate for an overnight stay at Great Wolf Lodge Perryville, courtesy of our friends at Great Wolf Lodge, in a standard family suite along with goodies for your visit, including:
- One insulated cooler
- Two beach towels
- Two pairs of goggles
- Two sets of animal ears
- One lucky winner will receive a Wild About Sundays prize pack complete with one $75 VISA gift card, one $25 gift card to Buffalo Wild Wings and other wild-themed snacks, libations and treats.
This contest is open to anyone who uses a child or adult library card to borrow at least one item on any Sunday in September and October; more items does not mean more entries. Winners will be notified via email on Friday, November 1, and will be able to pick up their prize at their home branch. The odds of winning are based on the number of qualifying participants. Employees of Baltimore County Public Library and their immediate family and household members of such employees are not eligible. Students who use their student account identification are also not eligible to win.
Library Card Sign Up Month
September is also Library Card Sign Up Month. Baltimore County Public Library knows the library card is the most important card in a person's wallet, and it encourages everyone to sign up for one or renew their card if it’s about to expire. Sticking with the wild theme, starting Monday, September 9, new cardholders will receive a bookmark that can also be planted to grow wildflowers.
Benefits of Owning a Library Card
Owning a library card provides countless opportunities to explore, learn, create and connect. In addition to borrowing physical items at our 19 branches, customers can access public computers, utilize streaming services, like Kanopy and hoopla, and download e-books, audiobooks and e-magazines. Our collection of databases includes a legal forms library, Mango Languages, LinkedIn Learning and more.
Today’s library is a community connector, offering a myriad of resources and services to empower and engage individuals to create a more inclusive and connected Baltimore County.
