Library Celebrates Grand Reopening of Catonsville Branch
Baltimore County Public Library is delighted to announce the grand reopening of its Catonsville Branch following a $7 million renovation. The Catonsville community is warmly invited to step back into their beloved branch and explore the enhancements that have been made to meet the needs of a 21st-century community.
“Libraries are more than just places to borrow books; they are community hubs where people can work, learn and play,” said Sonia Alcántara-Antoine, CEO of Baltimore County Public Library. “Our goal was to create spaces that are not only energy-efficient and functional but also welcoming and adaptable to the evolving needs of our community. We are deeply grateful to the Catonsville community for their patience and support throughout this process.”
Upgrades Made
The newly renovated Catonsville Branch now boasts a range of improvements, including:
Building Improvements
- Sprinkler system
- Sewage system
- Electrical system
- New windows and doors
- Upgraded HVAC
21st-Century Improvements
- New finishes throughout the building, including flooring, custom wall graphics and acoustic treatments
- Brand-new furnishings
- Dedicated teen area
- Remodeled meeting room
- Customer Service Desk
State-of-the-Art Recording Studios
- Two rooms featuring one soundproof recording space and one mixing booth with PreSonus One software and interface
- Native Instruments software and hardware
- Shure microphones
- Audix drum microphone kit
- Integrated headphone amplifiers and talkback microphones
- Wireless app to mix remotely

What’s Next
Looking ahead, Baltimore County Public Library remains committed to enhancing its facilities across the county. With the completion of the Catonsville Branch, the library is embarking on a $22 million renovation of the Woodlawn Branch beginning March 2025. There are additional plans for new buildings at the Randallstown and Essex branches in the years to come.
