September is National Library Card Sign-Up Month and Baltimore County Public Library is celebrating with a giveaway! The contest starts at 12 a.m. Eastern Time (ET) on Thursday, September 1, and ends at 11:59 p.m. ET on Friday, September 30.
Customers who participate in the contest are eligible to win tickets to a musical at the Hippodrome or an Apple MacBook.
Entry and Eligibility
Participants must use their Baltimore County Public Library card to check out eight physical items, which could include books, DVDs, CDs, video games or Library of Things items between September 1 and 30. Anyone with a current Baltimore County Public Library card who fulfills the checkout requirement is eligible to win.
Note: A digital library card only allows access to online resources such as databases, streaming services and downloadables, which are not part of the contest.
There are two divisions for the giveaway:
- Adult (age 18 and over)—The winner will receive two tickets to the musical Hamilton on Sunday, October 30.
- Youth (age 17 or younger)—The winner will receive an Apple MacBook Pro.
Odds of winning are based on the number of qualifying participants. Winners will be notified via email on Friday, October 7. Winners will be able to pick up their prize at their home branch.
Employees of Baltimore County Public Library and the immediate family (spouse, parent, child, sibling and their respective spouses or step of each) and household members of such employees are not eligible. Students who use their student account identification are also not eligible to win.
By entering this promotion, the entrant gives his/her consent for Baltimore County Public Library to publish the story on its website and use their name for promotional and marketing purposes.

About National Library Sign-Up Month
Since 1987, Library Card Sign-up Month has been held each September to mark the beginning of the school year. During the month, the ALA and libraries work together in a national effort to ensure everyone signs up for their own library card.
Today’s library is a community connector, offering a myriad of resources and services to empower and engage individuals to create a more inclusive and connected Baltimore County.
