Baltimore County provides funding and enjoys access to a huge number of museums and exhibit spaces including those which are physically located in Baltimore City.  And don't forget that some of the finest museums in the World are just a day trip away in Washington, DC.

 

Reginald F. Lewis Museum of Maryland African American History and Culture

  • African American Local Museums and Historical Sites
    from Baltimore County Public Library's African American InfoCenter.  The Baltimore area, the state of Maryland and the District of Columbia offer  multiple venues for ex ploring African American history and accomplishments.






  • Baltimore Basilica
    The first Roman Catholic cathedral built in the United States, and the first major religious building constructed after the adoption of the United States Constitution. It is a National Historic Landmark and National Shrine.


  • Baltimore Maritime Museum
    Includes four historic landmarks: the Lightship Chesapeake, USS Torsk which was one of only ten Tench Class fleet type submarines to see service in World War II, USCGC Taney which was in action against Japanese planes during the Pearl Harbor Attack, and the Seven Foot Knoll Lighthouse.





  • Contemporary Museum
    "Dedicated to broaden the understanding of new art and exhibition ideas". Located in downtown Baltimore.


  • Dr. Samuel D. Harris National Museum of Dentistry
    Discover fascinating hands-on exhibitions, sing along to vintage toothpaste commercials, and celebrate the heritage and future of dentistry at this historic location near Baltimore’s Inner Harbor. Affiliated with Smithsonian.



  • Fire Museum of Maryland
    Discover the history of fire fighting, from colonial times to the present. Located in Lutherville, Maryland.



  • Geppi's Entertainment Museum
    Where else can you revisit your childhood and get back in touch with old friends that entertained you in the past through comic strips and books, radio and television shows, films, cartoons, and so much more? Located in historic Camden Station at Camden Yards in Baltimore Maryland.


  • Glenn L. Martin Maryland Aviation Museum
    Dedicated to the promotion, preservation, and documentation of aviation and space history in Maryland, namely, the contributions of Glenn L. Martin and his successful company. Located in the Middle River Essex area of Baltimore County.




  • Jewish Museum of Maryland
    A major museum of regional Jewish history, culture and community. The Museum interprets the Jewish experience in America, with special attention to Jewish life in the state of Maryland.


  • Maryland Commission on Artistic Property
    of the Maryland State Archives.  includes Peabody Collection: works of art on loan to many Baltimore institutions and the Annapolis Collection: displayed in State buildings in  Annapolis. 








  • Rosenberg Gallery
    This gallery located at Goucher College in Towson, Maryland exhibits showcase work by regional artists.



  • Smithsonian
    Composed of 19 museums and galleries, the National Zoo, and numerous research facilities in the United States and abroad.


  • Sports Legends Museum at Camden Yards
    The state's sports history headquarters. Features exhibits on the Baltimore Orioles, the Baltimore Colts, Ravens and Blast, Orioles Hall of Fame, Negro League teams, the Preakness, the  Maryland State Athletic Hall of Fame, regional college athletics, and more.

  • Lester S Levy Collection of Sheet Music
    from the Special Collections of the Sheridan Libraries of Johns Hopkins University.  Consists of over 29,000 pieces of American popular music. The collection spans the years 1780 to 1980, but its strength is nineteenth-century America. Search by title, composer, first line of song or chorus and find a digital image of the sheet music.
    If the music was published after 1923, it is not in the public domain, and therefore there will be no images.
