Enforces child and spousal support court orders obtained through divorce proceedings or through the Baltimore County Establishment Unit. Searches for the absent parent, proves the paternity of the child, gets a court order for support, collects support payments, enforces the court order and reviews and modifies the court order. Persons applying for Temporary Cash Assistance must file for child support before receive cash assistance.

The Center provides emergency food, personal hygiene products, school supplies, career clothing and monthly grants for eviction-prevention and utility assistance. Those in need must visit the Center to complete a brief client-intake process. Upon its completion, the client will be issued emergency food and other basic needs every 60 days, or until their financial situation has improved. Those in jeopardy of eviction and/or utility shut-off may apply for a one-time monthly financial assistance grant. For a financial assistance grant, all adult family members should be present during the client-intake process. Upon its completion a grant application is issued. All financial assistance grant applicants (head of household only) are required to participate in a family spending class. No money given on the spot. Decision as to which families/individuals will be awarded the grant is made several days following the class. Funds are issued directly to landlord/mortgage lender and/or utility company. Must bring photo identification with current address; must reside within zip codes 21136, 21117 or 21071. Bring income verification in the form of SSI, SSDI, unemployment, paystud, child-support, food stamps, etc. For assistance grant, bring copy of court-ordered eviction notice, landlord-issued eviction notice, and utility shut-off notice with grant application.

Your first claim can be filed online or by telephone to the claim center serving your area. All claim centers take claims by telephone only, Monday through Friday, excluding State holidays, 8 am to 4 pm.
If you want information on an existing claim or to file your biweekly continued claim (request for payment) over the telephone, you must call the Claimant Information Service at 410-949-0022; TTY: 410-767-2727 (automated telephone information system that is available 24 hours a day, seven days a week) or file your bi-weekly continued claim (request for payment) over the Internet through WebCert.
