Most birth control methods have one purpose - to prevent pregnancy.
Some will also help prevent the transfer of infection. If you are sexually
active and do not want to become pregnant, you should consider some type of
protection and contraception. Birth control devices are available in
drugstores and pharmacies and from private physicians and health clinics.
Did You Know?
If you become pregnant when you are under 18, there is a risk to your
health and to that of your baby. Four out of every five girls who have
intercourse without using birth control will become pregnant during the
first year of sexual activity. There is even a chance that you may become
pregnant after only one unprotected intercourse.
