Chapter 4-C - Jobs and Career Counseling

Looking for a job is hard work. There is a lot of competition for positions and, if the job market is slow, finding employment may not be easy. Start looking for a job well before you actually want to start working. Ask family or adult friends for tips like dressing neatly and being on time for interviews. If you can't locate a job, consider becoming a volunteer. Volunteer work is a way of establishing a work record which can be used later as a reference when applying for paid employment. Some places which accept volunteers are hospitals, nursing homes, day care centers, libraries, and recreation centers.
