While family and friends are usually the best support people, they
can't help if they are part of the problem. Sometimes the people we are
closest to (family, friends) are the most difficult for us to get along with
or understand.
If you need help in dealing with a personal relationship, you might want
to consider talking to someone not involved in the situation, such as a
minister, priest, or rabbi or a professional counselor. Asking for help
doesn't mean that you are weak or mentally ill. It indicates rather that you
are accepting responsibility by seeking direction in dealing with a problem
situation.
